About TaxRadar

A free UK tax calculator that shows your real take-home pay.

Why this exists

Most UK tax calculators just give you a number. Some still have last year's rates or get Scottish bands wrong.

We built TaxRadar because the existing tools weren't good enough. Every calculator uses the actual HMRC thresholds for 2025/26, shows you how your tax is calculated band by band, and warns you about traps like the 60% marginal rate before they cost you money.

We're not accountants and this isn't tax advice. But you shouldn't need to pay for software just to know your take-home pay.

What we do differently

Your data stays on your device

Every calculation runs in your browser. We don't send your salary to a server, we don't store it, and we don't sell it. There's nothing to leak.

It warns you about tax traps

If your income puts you in the 60% marginal rate zone or triggers the High Income Child Benefit Charge, you'll see a warning with a link to a guide on what to do about it. Most calculators just show the number and move on.

HMRC rates, verified

Income Tax bands, NI thresholds, Scottish rates, and student loan plans. All from official HMRC publications, updated when the Budget announces changes.

It shows the working

You can expand every calculation to see which tax band each pound falls into, how your Personal Allowance is tapered, and exactly where your NI contributions come from. No black boxes.

How we work

Everything is free. Every tool on TaxRadar is free. No email gates, no premium tiers, no "enter your details to see results."

We're upfront about what we can't do. We show estimates based on standard HMRC rules. Your actual position depends on your full circumstances, which is why every page links to GOV.UK and suggests speaking to an accountant if things get complex.

Your feedback shapes what we build next. There's a feedback link in the footer of every page. If you spot an error or want a calculator we haven't built yet, tell us.
